Its a long time since I left kolkata……i missed Durga pujo 4 years straight including the last one…..except for very little news that i get from my Psycho friends down their i actually lost all touches from that place…….i was joining the club of all those semi rootless people hanging in transit of life no idea where the exit is, until my uncle came to rescue……
He is a retired DGM from RBI seen life and went through the golden age(or the hot bed) of bengal like my father (Partition, Naxalite movement, Football, political turmoil, femine, student’s revolt)……He was politically very active in his student’s life and lot of bigshot politicians(now) where partners in crime then……he told me as did my father about how sitting in a ‘mohunbagan-eastbengal’ match(they had a gold card then) they thought the place would be and a spirit of making every thing right(gives me a sense of dejavu)…….
I always thought that listening to the news or reading a paper always gives us a view which is not 360, theres some perspective or angle we miss out……he writes as a freelancer in times and he did almost a thesis on why CPM wins every time in Kolkata even with a pathetic track record and the whole socio-economic issue attached to it…its a real study and a brilliant view of the micro level events(text)…….
I felt nostalgic more so with a outlook issue(a month back) with some awesome quotes describing the good ol’ Kolkatans…….few where actually a little flattering with high dose of praise and sentiments involved, but who cares!!!
